►Our neighborhood association is looking for a volunteer to lead our neighborhood association. I will be resigning in December; this would be a good early opportunity to phase into this position. Let me know if you are interested or know someone who would be interested.

►The Albuquerque Police Department is experiencing an organizational restructure of several command staff. Commander Camacho has been moved to a Northwest Area Command. Until a permanent commander is placed into our northeast command we will have an Acting Commander, A/Cmdr. Tim Lopez. We will be notified when a new commander is in place and we are assured our officers are dedicated to their service and community.
►The New Mexico State Police – District 1 has issued a credit card scam advisory. Someone identifying themselves as a New Mexico State Police Officer is calling people and demanding credit card information for past debts. They are threatening to come to the person’s home or business to arrest them if payment is not made in 30 minutes. New Mexico State Police does not accept payment for debt and will not ask for credit card information. Never give your credit card information or personal information to anyone that you did not initiate contact with.
►I wanted to follow up on the incident that happened February 12th in which a hammer wielding youth injured a police officer. I was able to get a number for the police report 14-13155. Since the individual involved was a juvenile, APD will not release the report. I was able to find out the incident began on Laving and ended on the corner of Avenida La Costa and Glendora.
►I could see this one coming from a mile away when the County assessor’s office said they were going to start canvassing county properties. Three men are going door to door and saying they are from the County Assessor’s Office. They had badges, but no vests. The car had a grouping of crosses on it but no words. The men asked questions and wanted to gain access to the property owners back porch. The homeowner did not let them gain access to his property. The assessor’s office personnel travel in a 15 person van clearly marked County Assessor. The assessors wear green vests covered with county assessor identity info as well as badges. The assessors canvas an area in pairs and usually only one person will knock on doors. They will never ask to enter the house or yard. This is the latest info from APD.
►The City of Albuquerque Water Conservation Ordinance is different than then Rules issued by the Albuquerque Bernallilo County Water Utility Authority. The City has been asked to revise their ordinance so there is no confusion about watering times.
►Zayo, a telecommunications company has been working in our neighborhood using PNM power poles to install fiber optic cables to enhance services for large businesses and cell phone carriers. Workers have been jumping walls entering yards without prior notification. It would have been nice if PNM Community Relations or Zayo would have given us notice about the pending work. The work should be completed by the end of the month.
►Saturday April 26th APD Crime Prevention will be holding a VIN etching event from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM at the AAA Office located at 10501 Montgomery Blvd NE. This is a good deterrent against auto theft. You will need your current registration and valid driver’s license at the time of the etching.
►I have attached an updated list of “Important City Telephone Numbers” along with a list of the City’s Department Directors contact information.
Sincerely
Jake Tellier
